The general meeting of the Property Management Association elected new members to the association’s board last week. CEOs Marjut Sandsjoe<\/strong> from Porvoon A-asunnot<\/a> and Suvi Tuomala<\/strong> from us at Setlementtiasunnot will join the board. Both bring strong expertise in the development of rental housing and property management. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s truly wonderful to join such a competent group. Property management affects almost every Finn in some way. Property managers take care of our most valuable assets \u2013 our homes,\u201d says Suvi Tuomala. <\/p>\n

\u201cProperty management for rental housing companies is less known than for housing cooperatives, so it’s great to work with the Property Management Association to raise awareness of our work,\u201d says Marjut Sandsjoe.<\/p>\n

The Role of Property Management Remains Important in the Future<\/h2>\n

According to Sandsjoe, property management work in rental housing companies is slightly different from that in housing cooperatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat both have in common is a multidisciplinary team serving customers, which may include, in addition to the property manager, customer service, a rental supervisor, an accountant, a technical expert, a property manager, a maintenance manager, and other professionals.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tuomala also sees property management as a strong future-oriented field.<\/p>\n

\u201cArtificial intelligence and technology can replace many things, but property management is primarily a customer service task that cannot be transferred to machines. There are also many job opportunities in property management for future experts.\u201d <\/p>\n

Non-profit Rental Housing Companies are Socially Significant<\/h2>\n

Tuomala is particularly pleased that two representatives from non-profit rental housing companies were elected to the board of the Property Management Association<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cNearly 750 non-profit rental housing companies operate in Finland, and property managers also work in these. Many of us measure resident satisfaction, and the work of the property manager is central to this,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n

Sandsjoe emphasizes that job descriptions can vary significantly between different rental housing companies, and property management is also carried out under various titles in these companies.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegardless of titles and job descriptions, our task in non-profit rental housing companies is to ensure that affordable housing is available to people, that living runs smoothly, and that homes and buildings are kept in good condition.
