At Borgströminmäki Setlementtiasunnot, a light artwork is on display, produced by the building’s residents, featuring images meaningful to them.
“Mindscape” is a communal light artwork, the visual content of which is produced by the residents of Setlementtiasunnot. Light artist and designer Reija Pasanen designed the piece as part of the Kruunuvuorenranta area’s light art collection.
The Mindscape light artwork forms an evolving visual landscape, constructed from residents’ photographs or image themes illustrated by other means. Residents of Setlementtiasunnot of all ages have contributed content to the piece.

The visual imagery of the light artwork reflects themes related to places or things that are significant or otherwise feel close to the residents. These include, for example, longing for a childhood home or grandmother’s house, as well as things associated with safety and well-being.
Residents have chosen an image that they feel best represents the theme of the artwork. The artist has compiled these images into an evolving visual entity, which is displayed on a screen.

The artwork is located at the entrance of Setlementtiasunnot’s Borgströminmäki property, at Koirasaarentie 19, 00590 Helsinki. It is visible to everyone when viewed from the direction of Koirasaarentie.
The artwork is implemented using LED display technology, commonly used in billboards, for example. Unlike typical display screens, the images in this artwork appear from behind a softening film. In addition, the artwork’s illumination intensity is adjusted so that no disturbing light is reflected into the area.
The artwork is on according to the residents’ wishes.
