Active resident activities offer an opportunity to influence the development of one’s living environment and participate in the planning of shared events and activities. Residents have the freedom to shape resident activities to reflect their own building or area – whether it’s joint work parties, yard parties, or resident meetings.
Resident activities are based on the Joint Administration Act
Resident activities are based on the Joint Administration Act (1169/2022), which regulates cooperation between rental housing companies and residents, as well as residents’ opportunities for participation and influence in state-subsidized rental housing.
Although resident activities are statutory, at Setlementtiasunnot they are not bureaucratic or rigid – but rather vibrant, participatory, and communal.
How can I participate in resident activities?
You can participate in resident activities by contacting the current resident committee or by attending the next resident meeting.
Resident Meetings
A resident meeting is an important occasion where residents can influence matters concerning their building and develop community spirit. At Setlementtiasunnot, the resident meeting decides on the formation of the resident committee, its number of members, selection method, and term length.
If a resident committee cannot be formed in the building, the resident meeting may decide that its duties will be handled by a trusted person from the building or by the resident meeting itself. This ensures that residents’ voices are heard and their views are taken into account in decision-making.
Election of resident members to the Setlementtiasunnot Board of Directors
Every two years, a resident member can be proposed for the Board of Directors of Setlementtiasunnot Oy at the resident meeting. This is an important way to ensure that residents’ voices are heard at a strategic level and that decision-making is based on the needs and wishes of the community.
