Setlementtiasunnot Oy, Asuntosäätiö, and Peab Oy, in cooperation with the City of Helsinki, organized a design competition for the residential apartment buildings, block courtyard, and underground parking garage beneath the deck to be built in block 49339 in the Kruunuvuorenranta sub-area of Laajasalo.
The purpose of the competition was to find a high-quality and feasible solution for the block complex, both in terms of urban design and technical solutions.
Sigge Architects and Loci Landscape Architects won the invited competition with their entry “Stansvik Gate”. According to the jury, the proposal is a subtly charming, clearly defined, and balanced entity that, in its appearance and spirit, connects to the urban atmosphere of the new district. The bright entrance lobby and entrance arrangements from the corner of Koirasaarentie, the location of the resident common room, and the building’s saunas located on the rooftop floors also received praise.
