The year 2025 reinforced Setlementtiasunnot’s core mission: to provide homes where daily life runs smoothly and people can build a good neighborhood together. The operating environment was challenging in many respects, but trust, cooperation, and the smooth flow of daily life sustained us. The year built continuity and laid the foundation for the future.

Residents are an active part of daily life and the neighborhood at Setlementtiasunnot. In 2025, this was particularly evident in stable living conditions and smooth daily routines. A high occupancy rate indicates residents’ trust and desire to commit to their homes and environment. A good neighborhood is created through small actions: encounters, participation, and taking responsibility for one’s living environment.

In May, we celebrated Neighborhood Week, which highlighted the everyday activities at our various properties. Sirpa Tavi from the Jätkäsaari building was chosen as Neighbor of the Year. This recognition demonstrates how individuals contribute to the well-being and comfort of the entire neighborhood.
Well-functioning neighborhoods require skilled and committed staff. In 2025, Setlementtiasunnot’s staff performed work that was reflected in residents’ daily lives through smooth services, clear communication, and effective solutions. During the year, our organization was strengthened with new experts, and job satisfaction remained at a good level, which created stability and continuity in our operations.

In June, Setlementtiasunnot was the only Finnish finalist selected for the European Responsible Housing Awards 2025 competition at the Social Housing Festival in Dublin. This international recognition highlighted Setlementtiasunnot’s approach to supporting residents’ daily lives and functional neighborhoods, also in a European comparison.

During the year, groups from both Finland and various parts of the world visited our buildings. It is wonderful to be a pioneer in non-profit housing in Europe. Finland continues to be a strong role model for many in how the marginalization of areas and homelessness have been successfully prevented through long-term and responsible housing policy. Setlementtiasunnot’s work is part of this overall effort.

At the end of the year, we received our new housing complex in Hervanta, Tampere, which was immediately fully rented. The complex is a concrete example of how careful planning and a focus on daily life are reflected in the final outcome. The staff were involved in the project from the beginning, contributing their expertise to solutions that support smooth daily life and the emergence of a sense of community.

The year 2025 demonstrated that functional daily life, trust, and working together are the foundation of Setlementtiasunnot’s operations. The residents’ activity, the staff’s expertise, and cooperation with partners form a whole that endures even in a changing operating environment.
The year 2026 will be built upon these foundations. Several construction projects are in preparation, and the goal is to further strengthen functional neighborhoods and smooth daily life across Finland. Setlementtiasunnot continues its work with a long-term, responsible approach, listening to the daily needs of its residents.
