A pleasant rental building near excellent services in Sompasaari, Helsinki
A seven-story rental building for all ages was completed in Sompasaari, Helsinki, in March 2020. The building has a total of 65 apartments, 16 of which are for people with intellectual disabilities.
Sompasaari Setlementtiasunnot is a single-staircase building with an elevator. In accordance with the Setlementtiasunnot concept, the common facilities provide space for residents’ communal activities.
Environment
The Sompasaari residential area, south of Kalasatama, boasts excellent transport connections, accessible by metro and several bus lines. Basic services are nearby: the Redi shopping center, Kalasatama health and well-being center, primary school and daycare, as well as the Teurastamo and Tukkutori areas are all within close proximity. The Mustikkamaa outdoor recreation area is just a short walk across the Isoisänsilta bridge. You can read more about Kalasatama on the City of Helsinki’s website.
Anyone, including individuals, households, or families, can apply for Setlementtiasunnot rental apartments. In tenant selection, we adhere to ARA’s conditions regarding the urgency of housing needs and wealth limits. The district for Sompasaari Setlementtiasunnot in our application form is Kalasatama.
Amenities
The apartments feature water-circulated underfloor heating. The flooring in living rooms, hallways, and kitchens is laminate. The floors of toilets and washrooms are tiled with ceramic tiles. Interior walls are mostly painted. The walls of washrooms and separate toilets, as well as the backsplash area in kitchens, are tiled with ceramic tiles.
Apartment balconies are glazed. Each apartment includes either a balcony or a French balcony, as per the floor plan. Some apartments also feature a low loft space in addition to the main living area. Washrooms are equipped with a vanity cabinet, toilet, mirror cabinet, shower curtain rail, and laundry cabinet. Washrooms have connections for a washing machine and space for a tumble dryer above the washing machine.
In loft apartments, the cleaning cupboard in the washrooms also includes a vacuum cleaner shelf, shelves (3 pcs), and metal-framed laundry baskets. Curtain rails with two tracks are installed on the ceiling above the windows.
Each apartment includes a warm storage unit, located on either the 1st or 2nd floor.
The rent includes the building’s broadband: DNA Netti basic speed 50 M.
The building is smoke-free, meaning smoking is prohibited in apartments, on balconies, within the property’s indoor spaces, and on the plot area. Pets are allowed.
Community
In our building, you don’t have to be alone. You can find companionship among neighbors – if you wish. You can meet neighbors in common areas and participate in resident activities.

Common Facilities
Residents have access to bright and versatile common facilities on the 1st and 2nd floors of the building. The space can be divided with a movable wall. An auditorium staircase connects the 1st and 2nd-floor areas.
In the resident lounge, you can read a newspaper or drink coffee, meet neighbors, chat and spend time, watch TV, or participate in other activities. The communal kitchen in the resident lounge allows for cooking and baking. The free laundry room on the second floor has washing and drying machines. 7. On the 3rd-7th floors, connected to the gallery access, there are communal balconies for residents.
The block’s courtyard is located in the center of the block. The courtyard will be completed in the final phase of the block’s construction. The courtyard’s functions are situated along the path that bisects it. The courtyard features playgrounds, seating and lounging areas, a game lawn, and bicycle storage near the stairwell entrances. Parking is available in the hall beneath the block’s courtyard deck. The parking garage has a total of 69 parking spaces, 11 of which are available for residents of this building. Access to the parking garage is via a ramp running through the building from Priki Venuksen kuja.
