Are you heading for a holiday trip? Please remember a few things before your journey.
- Close the windows and the balcony door.
- If you are away for an extended period, redirect your mail or ask a neighbour to collect it from your doorstep. This prevents thieves from knowing you are away. For a short trip, simply leave the inner door open so that mail can fit through the letterbox.
- Turn off the water tap for the washing machine and dishwasher. However, it would be safest to turn it off after every use.
- Unplug at least those electrical devices whose transformers may overheat. It is also advisable to unplug the coffee maker, toaster, and kettle.
- Take out the rubbish and empty perishable items from the refrigerator.
