In new tenancy agreements, the smoking ban applies to all premises of the property, including outdoor areas. At the same time, we are building designated smoking areas for our properties
For all tenancy agreements commencing on or after August 1, 2021, the smoking ban will be extended to prohibit smoking throughout the entire property, including apartments, balconies, common areas, and the plot area, with the exception of any designated smoking areas.
Existing tenancy agreements will not be altered due to the expansion of the ban.
The expansion of the ban only applies to new agreements, so residents in the same building may have tenancy agreements with different scopes of smoking bans or no smoking ban at all. Properties completed before 2017 are not entirely smoke-free. This way, we are gradually transitioning to smoke-free properties, excluding designated smoking areas.
Smoking restrictions also apply to e-cigarettes.
Failure to comply with a smoking ban recorded in the tenancy agreement constitutes a breach of contract, which may even lead to the termination of the tenancy agreement.
Construction of Smoking Areas
To improve housing comfort, we are planning to construct smoking areas in the yards of our residential buildings.
During spring and summer 2021, we will assess what type of smoking area can be placed in each property’s area and whether residents deem it necessary. Resident participation in the planning will be carried out through a comment round with resident committees.
The construction of smoking areas will be carried out during the latter part of the year.
Regardless of the nature of the tenancy agreement, we hope our residents will consider the harm caused by tobacco smoke to neighbors and neighborly relations!
