The Setlement Housing visited English senior living solutions on May 15-18. As part of the future senior living project (come). We were on our way to Suvi Tuomala and Katri Kaukinen .

They also went to Toynbee Hali, the birthplace of the setting movement.

- It was great to see that supporting the block courtyard and community was the starting point in the design of the houses. The residents' comments and thoughts on housing strengthen our idea of the need and importance of community housing, says Suvi Tuomala.

They got to know eg. Appleby Blue Almshise, which has a lot of common areas and encounters, with the help of the common areas, the yard and the gutter. In the middle of the block is a joint courtyard and a roof.

- It was nice to visit a variety of destinations and find that many things are already happening at our own destinations. Nature is at the heart of the construction of London. It is a privilege for residents to have an apartment from a communal + 55-year-old house. The residents were very happy and were happy to tell about their living, Tuomala recalls.

Katri Kaukinen also strongly remembered that aging in London is not seen as a bad thing.

- The design of houses built for older people takes into account the fact that you can spend a normal life in the same apartment, but will continue living even after you need, for example, aids or other services.

- Discussions with the colleagues on the way confirmed that there are similar challenges everywhere. It is gratifying that they try to find effective solutions together, Kaukinen says.
