Setlementtiasunnot is a partner in the Astetta alemmas campaign, which is a joint energy-saving campaign by the state administration coordinated by Motiva.
Russia’s military actions in Ukraine have led to problems with energy prices and availability in Finland and across Europe. This winter, electricity consumption and heating costs are exceptionally high.
Everyone must also be prepared for potential intermittent electricity shortages. Availability can be hampered by factors such as long, windless periods of frost, limited supply of hydropower-generated electricity from the Nordic countries, maintenance or operational outages at electricity production facilities, and electricity demand in Central Europe.
Electricity shortages can lead to distribution interruptions. The risk of power outages is reduced by paying attention to one’s own electricity usage habits and timing.
The goal of the campaign is that
- all Finns take concrete and quickly effective energy-saving actions
- electricity use is independently restricted during peak consumption hours – on weekdays between 8–10 AM and 4–6 PM – by shifting the use and charging of electrical appliances to another time
- energy consumption is reduced throughout society; in homes and housing companies, businesses, municipalities, organizations, and educational institutions.
At Setlementtiasunnot, energy consumption is influenced by both property-technical and communication means, including conducting eco-maintenance in properties, lowering room temperatures, and organizing an energy-saving campaign for residents. Staff are also encouraged to save energy.
Setlementtiasunnot’s energy-saving tips are published on the company’s Facebook and Instagram accounts once a month. The publications offer concrete tips for saving energy and cutting electricity consumption peaks, especially in home settings.
