Settlement Housing has built one of the first RTS environment-class ARA destinations in Tapiola, Espoo.
“The Settlement Housing of the Jousenpuisto Park is one of the first ARA projects to pilot environmental rating. The process taught how to implement a high-quality target from an environmental point of view and what to consider in it .
"A-engineers acted as a developer consultant in the project and was responsible for the supervision, so it was natural to use A-engineers' expertise in environmental certification. Thus, A-engineers were also responsible for the project guidance according to the RTS environmental classification ," says Anssi Ticklén, A-Engineer.
RTS environmental classification, which guides environmental responsible construction, is an impartial and external classification process that takes into account the entire life cycle of construction. Environmental responsible guidance succeeded in designing and building a sustainable, energy efficient and environmentally classified building. The RTS environmental classification has been developed for Finnish conditions and takes into account Finnish circumstances, legislation and the versatility of the real estate stock. The RTS environmental rating includes criteria related to the durability, humidity management, usability, maintenance and comfort of the building.
The premises of the residential building are designed and implemented so that they provide sufficient natural light for each apartment. The premises also take into account good space acoustics and sound insulation. The building prefers the use of environmental conscious products and low -emission interior materials.
The moisture management of the site was taken into account in both the design and implementation phase. During the design phase, the moisture risks of the site were defined, and separate surveys were carried out for the structures that require moisture technology during the implementation phase. The site succeeded in complying with the high -quality site moisture management in addition to managing good environmental issues.
Design solutions improved the wear resistance of the site and achieved the best practices for maintenance. High green efficiency was maintained in the area and conditions that were safe for traffic and sustainable mobility were created.
In the deployment, functional measurements in accordance with good practices and thorough building technology were carried out in accordance with good practices. Based on functional measurements and building technology, it was ensured that the site has good indoor air and ventilation and is equivalent to indoor air class S2.
In addition to environmental planning and construction, ecology has been taken into account in the deployment and maintenance of the building - the residents and maintenance staff have been developed with user guidelines and familiarity with the goal -oriented and responsible operation of the building.
"The parties to the project took well taken into account the criteria defined by the RTS environmental classification in both the design and implementation phase. As a result, we were able to implement a comfortable and environmental residential building ," says Katarina Varteva, a life-cycle expert at A-engineers, computing and life cycle services.
