In the 4-part Youtube series of setting dwellings, residents meet each other in different everyday situations. How do you get peppers in club room? What about cardboard boxes in the trash? The series was produced by a student group for Metropolia's film and television degree program.
Settlement Housing and Metropolia Film and Television Degree Program 3 Students started cooperation in the autumn of 2021. The purpose was to make four videos for setting up homes kerro you about living in setting dwellings.
Collaboration between working life is an integral part of the polytechnic education. It is implemented in several forms, one of which is the implementation of working life projects. During the subscription work period, the students implemented a video series according to the customer's wishes for business use. At this stage, the right ordering work is of great importance. It brings determination and professionalism to the project.
The videos were brainstormed with the Settlement Housing team, and at regular intervals the project went through the project. As the project progressed, the manuscript was refined to the customer's vision, however, that the production team's handprint also got space.
"Working projects are chosen specifically because there is enough room for maneuver in planning. Every time it is a pleasure to see how creatively the authors go out to brainstorm and implement projects. Students dare to be bold, and the lessons are specifically to adapt the bold ideas to suit the customer's needs." Metropolia.
The production team included screenwriter, director, producer, photographer, cutter, sound designer and lighter. The size of the whole team was 20 factors. Students' roles in production were naturally determined by their own study unit and interests. Actors and assistants joined the shooting days.
In December, the videos were ready and were presented to the subscriber, which was very pleased with the result.
"Today, the video is one of the most important ways to tell the story, and now we have a full video series. We can now proudly go out to tell about friendly luck and setting up with these high quality videos," says Marja Mesimäki, Development Manager at Settlement Housing.
Metropolia was also very pleased with the project and its outcome.
“The process was quite educational about how many things to consider to be taken into account to achieve this kind of production and a successful outcome,” says Arto Tuohimaa.
"The project of the Setlement Housing project was very attractive to us because the subscriber gave us enough space to bring our own vision to the project and trusted us in implementation. The communication with the customer was easy and definitely showed the best of commissioned work," the students say.
The working group, which became acquainted with the operation of the setting dwellings, was particularly valued in the setting home that the facilities provide favorable conditions for creating new connections between residents.
