Alppikylä of the Settlement Housing in Helsinki and the surrounding residential area will participate in the international competition to find the best residential area in the Nordic countries. The focus is on the comfort of the residents, the architecture and the surrounding nature.

- Alppikylä was a natural choice for us as a competitive candidate for us, because the area surrounded by nature, the special area is known for its neighborhood and strong community, says Suvi Tuomala, CEO of Setlement dwellings.

- In all of our houses, we are investing in community, but Alppikylä , it is particularly lively in our house, says Suvi Tuomala.

For example, residents organize courtyards, cultivate common cultivation boxes and help each other in daily matters.

- They also run a waste food distribution to residents of the area. More than 100 food bags go to homes in need every week, says Suvi Tuomala.

The winner will be clear in September

The NBO Housing Award had the opportunity to participate in a minute video. There are 19 candidates, seven of which are from Finland. The versatile and colorful Alppikylä represents the only residential area in Helsinki.

The competition is organized by the Housing Nordic- NBO , which is a cooperation organization for owners of the Nordic affordable rental and residence housing. The finalists of the competition will be announced in late August and the winner 19.9. At the Nordic Housing Conference in Stockholm.

All candidates in the competition
