Setlement homes are very concerned about the rental housing of the new government program.

- The home and the community around it are from the beginning of a good life. Towards the home creates insecurity and rootlessness, says Suvi Tuomala,

The new government is expected to return income limits to affordable rental housing and make a fixed term of ara housing leases. This seriously undermines the basic principle of living permanence and a sense of safety for a resident's long -term home.

- Income limits and fixed -term leases also form incentive traps, Tuomala points out.

In all situations, it is not profitable for a resident to take on a better -wage job if he or she was at the same time losing his affordable home. Changes in housing allowance further weaken the tenant's position.

The rise in construction costs is reflected in rent

The goals of the Government Program mentions that a guarantee fee will be introduced in the construction of new rental homes.

- This will inevitably raise the rent of the occupant as the costs of new residential sites will increase, Tuomala says.

There will also be weakening for the construction of special groups housing sites. On the other hand, the purpose of the government program is to streamline planning is a supportive goal.

The aim of the government is to promote the functioning of the housing market while reducing ARA housing production. Affordable housing will be promoted in the government program with a non -subsidized housing stock.

- Both actors are needed. However, non -profit actors play a key role in preventing segregation and preventing regional segregation. Instant savings can build far -reaching social challenges, Tuomala says.

A good goal of the elderly

Positive in the government program is to turn the gaze into the alternatives to senior housing: the residence of community housing is called for the housing of the elderly.

- We, as a pioneer, consider the proposal to be a good opening. Most older people want to live in their own home for as long as possible. Collaborative solutions, community support and social contacts significantly make living an elderly person at home, Tuomala says.
