Who are you and where do you come from?

Hello. I am Eemeli. I live with my family in Lahti (correctly pronounced without the letter ‘d’. It can also be considered the only word in the Finnish language where a silent ‘d’ is written).

I am married and have two children. My hobbies include playing ice hockey in casual ‘bat shifts’ and brewing beer.
My free time is largely spent with my family and engaging in various activities. In early December, we got a dog, a Golden Retriever named Bruno, with whom we anticipate many mischievous moments and a lot of cleaning. I enjoy sarcastic humor and dad jokes.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, and I have worked in the construction industry in almost every role, from excavation sites to client-side positions. The projects I have been involved in range from 120 m² detached houses to a 30,000 m² university campus, and everything interesting in between.

What kind of Head of Real Estate will Setlementtiasunnot Oy gain in you?

I am an enthusiast, a developer, and a problem-solver. I find the development of comprehensive entities and lifecycle thinking from a property owner’s perspective very interesting. I am excited by the idea of how we can integrate the different phases of our properties’ lifecycles into our own operations.

In leadership, I approach matters from a people-centric perspective, clarifying key tasks. I strive to identify and support the team’s strengths. As a whole, we complement each other, and together we develop and advance. I value open teamwork within the work community. Within the team, we can constructively drive each other forward in projects. I believe that people should have sufficient work, and the content of that work should be both meaningful and motivating.

I am fascinated and inspired by the idea of developing a better, more ecological, more responsible, and more functional future. Energy saving and energy self-sufficiency have emerged as major themes with the current crisis. I strongly believe that, with the prevailing energy crisis, we will develop our properties, operations, and ways of thinking towards a more responsible, ecological, and sustainable direction.

My basic principle in construction is that simple is beautiful. This applies particularly well to ARA rental housing communities, where responsible operations towards our residents are at the core of our activities.

A few years have passed in a very strong upheaval regarding established practices. First, the COVID-19 pandemic brought permanent changes, and now the energy crisis challenges us to rethink standardized operating models. Combining the developmental steps brought by this upheaval with a modern work community is truly inspiring and motivating for me.

Welcome to the team, Eemeli!
