We are involved in the newly launched Senior Housing project . The project promotes age -friendly housing, communal solutions and models of independent living as long as possible.

"It is now very necessary for us to start planning how we will meet the housing requirements of the elderly in the future," Eemeli Lönnqvist, at Setlement Housing.

The purpose of the project is to jointly develop new models for senior housing housing production. In addition to setting homes the University of Tampere , the ARA Center for Financing and Development , the Ministry of the Environment and a large number of key players in senior living are included.

Elderly want to live at home

The change in the demographic structure has highlighted the need to think about fresh perspectives on the habitats of the elderly. There is also a clear order for solutions between home living and service housing, such as forms of community living for the elderly.

- In the future, the general trend is to live at home for as long as possible. This challenges us as a property owner to find new ways to make homes and communal spaces. As diversity and technological systems increase, we want to respond to how a person can be better taken into account in living, says Lönnqvist.

The Future Senior Housing project will continue until 30 September 2025. During this, several senior housing destinations in Finland and internationally, collecting questionnaires and interviews, and workshops and seminars will be held.
